Minorities are overall, less healthy than whites and experience high rates of uninsurance and disparities in health outcomes and treatment. This session will provide an overview of these disparities and the importance of raising public awareness of this important issue through the media.

Understanding how laws are created and trying to make sense of health care policy and health disparities can be sometimes daunting for reporters. This session will cover the basics of health care policy reporting, and a discussion on how to incorporate health disparities in general health care stories.
